Surveyor Achieves Elite Federal Certification

June 22, 2011

Fort Smith, AR - Keith Sikes, P.S., Survey Manager for Morrison-Shipley Engineers, Inc., is among an elite group of Professional Land Surveyors nationally that was recently awarded the designation of Certified Federal Surveyor (CFedS) from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management. Keith, a Licensed Professional Surveyor in the States of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, joined Morrison-Shipley in 2005, and he has more than 20 years of land surveying experience.

The CFedS program, which was created in 2004 by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, is designed to specifically enhance the level of knowledge and expertise within the professional land surveying community for survey work performed on Federal lands - especially on Indian Trust lands. To earn the CFedS designation, candidates are required to complete 120 hours of coursework prepared by the BLM and also pass a rigorous certification examination.  Mr. Sikes is currently one of only eight CFedS in Arkansas and 461 nationally.

Keith lives in Greenwood, AR with his wife Michelle and their two sons.
