Searcy, AR - Morrison-Shipley's Searcy office is one of only two companies statewide currently active in certifying its Survey Technicians through NSPS' Certified Survey Technician (CST) Program according to ASPS' Spring 2010 Point of Intersection magazine (see p. 22). Under the leadership of John Hendrix, P.S., Searcy Division Manager, an active training process is underway to certify all of our field crew personnel in Searcy and eventually across the entire company.
In November of 2009, two of Morrison-Shipley's Searcy survey staff members successfully achieved CST designations. Clay Chamberlain, Mapping & GIS Technician, earned a CST Level I certification. Jason Scheffer, S.I., a graduate of UA Monticello with a BS degree in Spatial Information Systems and an AS degree in Land Surveying Technology, achieved a CST Level II (Field) certification. (As noted in the POI article, out of nine people who sat for the November 2009 exam, Clay and Jason were the only two who achieved passing results.) In April 2010, Rodney Reamer, Crew Chief, also received a CST Level I certification.
"Our survey staff has taken a strong initiative to improve their technical skills by committing to the CST educational process", stated John Hendrix. "We are currently working with others in the office to achieve their certification as well as continuing to elevate the levels of those who have already achieved certification", he added.
