UA Fort Smith selects Morrison-Shipley for Parking and Soccer Field Project

Fort Smith, AR - The University of Arkansas Fort Smith has selected a team led by Morrison-Shipley to design a new 300-space parking lot and competition soccer/intramural field on a 10-acre site located at the NE corner of Waldron Road and Kinkead Avenue.  The new parking lot will serve a 446 bed student housing facility that will come online in the Fall of 2010 while also supplementing parking for activities at Stubblefield Arena.  "This is a big win for Morrison-Shipley in that we were selected from among 12 highly qualified firms who proposed for this project" commented Neal Morrison, P.E., President of Morrison-Shipley.  Mr. Morrison added "This project continues an outstanding working relationship that Morrison-Shipley has enjoyed with the University dating back to 1997.  We greatly appreciate the University's continued confidence in our firm to address the civil engineering needs on their campus."  Prior to this project, Morrison-Shipley has designed more than 1,600 surface parking space on the UA Fort Smith campus including stand-alone lots and those associated with multiple building projects.

Morrison-Shipley will be the overall Project Manager and will provide Civil Engineering and Land Surveying services.  Other team members include Planning Design Group, Inc. of Tulsa, OK who will provide Sports Field design and Landscape Architecture services; HSA Engineering of Fort Smith who will serve as the Site and Field Lighting engineer; and GTS, Inc. of Van Buren, AR who will serve as the Geotechnical and Materials Testing consultant.
